Important note regarding dogs at MOT

PLEASE NOTE the rules below regarding dogs at MOTThe only exception to these rules is Registered Service Animals who are, of course, welcome.

Attitash Grand Summit: Dogs are not permitted inside the Attitash Grand Summit.

Loon:  Dogs are permitted at Loon but must be on a leash when outside the car.

Mt. Washington:  No dogs, leashed or not, are permitted beyond the bridge at the base of Mt. Washington unless they are in a vehicle going up the Auto Road.  No dogs are permitted under the tent or tied up to the tent. If you are skipping the festivities under the tent and just joining us for the drive to the top, dogs are permitted to ride with you in your car on the Auto Road, but must be on a leash at the summit.  These are Mt. Washington Auto Road rules.

I know this will make it difficult for you to bring your furry friend/s with you - and trust me, it bums me out too – but please respect the rules and plan accordingly.

T-shirt order deadlines

Thanks to our always-accommodating friends at Evergreen Graphics, we are keeping t-shirts orders open into early June this year.  However, if you want to be wearing your MOT2013 t-shirt as you cruise toward this year’s festivities, you must register for the event and order your t-shirts by the end of the day on Friday, May 3.  Any t-shirts ordered after that time will most likely need to be picked up at the event.   (Please note: pick-up times are TBD.)  Thank you.

Getting there is half the fun! – Registration closing soon

It has been a MINIs on Top tradition that MINIs from around New England get together on Friday and caravan to the Attitash Grand Summit Hotel.  We have caravans starting all over New England, pick one close to you and join in on the fun!

For many of you this will be your first MINI driving event, check out this handy how-to guide to MINI drives.

Thanks to our generous supporters

While MINIs on Top is not a fundraising event – fun is our goal! – we’ve donated nearly $85,000 in event proceeds to charities over the last ten years.  Lots of those proceeds are from the sale of door prize tickets which can be purchased at the event for $1 each.  I’d like to take a moment to thank the individuals and companies who have generously donated items so far this year:

And this is just the beginning! As usual, the items will be bundled up into especially-appealing packages just before the event so we’re not stuck under the tent calling raffle numbers all night.  Keep an eye on this site for more items you may want to get your hands on.

I’d also like to thank Michael and Inge Drozd for kindly stepping up to run this portion of the 2013 event.  It is a big job and without them it may not have happened this year.  Please be sure to thank them for their efforts when you see them in June.

This was going to be a surprise

… but I can’t keep this doozy to myself any longer.  I’m just too excited.  We booked a band to play the party in the MOTORoom on Saturday night!  Yup - Richard and I broke the MOT mold and booked a band.  I know some of you may be skeptical, but you’ll just need to trust us on this.  More details will be released – well – as soon as I can’t keep the secret any longer.  Watch this thread for hints in the coming weeks.

The Saturday night event in the MOTORoom is open to all MOT attendees, not just those staying at the base hotel.  And yes, it is still free of charge.

The moment you’ve all been waiting for

MINIs on Top 2013 registration is now open!  And it’s right here on our website.  So click on the 2013 MINIs on Top Registration page on this site, or this link 2013 MINIs on Top Registration, to secure your spot at the event and purchase auto road passes, dinners, t-shirts & clings!

Saturday night shindig

By the time we make it back to the Attitash Grand Summit on Saturday, June 22, we’ll have seen a spectacular sunset and/or experienced some epic weather at the top of Mt. Washington. There’s also a chance that some of us will need help releasing the grip-of-death from the steering wheel or door handle after the trips up and down the mountain.  Well, thanks to MINI Eastern Region, we’ll be able to gather in the MOTORoom, unwind, and share photos and stories from another MOT weekend while noshing on tasty hors d’oeuvres.  There will be a cash bar.  Doors will open at 9:00pm.  I’m looking forward to seeing you there.

Please join me in thanking MINI Eastern Region for sponsoring this party.  MOT wouldn’t be nearly as much fun without their generous support.

This event, like all other events in the MOTORoom at the Attitash Grand Summit, is open to all MOTers, not just those staying at the base hotel.

MOT = Feel good fun

While MINIs on Top is not a fundraising event, we’ve given nearly $85,000 to charity since 2004.  Proceeds from MOT2013 will be donated to two very worthy causes that past MOT-ers will be familiar with:

  • We will help grant wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions through the Make-a-Wish Foundation® of New Hampshire.  To learn more about the Make-a-Wish Foundation® of New Hampshire and some of the heart-warming wishes they’ve granted, visit www.newhampshire.wish.org.
  • We will continue our support of the world-renowned climate research conducted at the Mt. Washington Observatory with 6.288% of the proceeds in honor of the mountain’s elevation – 6,288’.  To learn more about the Mt. Washington Observatory and all of the super-cool things they do, or to take a peek at the view on top of Mt. Washington right now (!), visit http://www.mountwashington.org.

100% of the money raised through raffle ticket sales goes to our benefitting charities.  Something to keep in mind when the volunteer at the merchandise table asks if you would like the change from your purchase in cash or raffle tickets.

The most important meal of the day

I am thrilled to announce that one of our long-time supporters, Lyon-Waugh (aka MINI of Peabody and MINI of Bedford), will be hosting breakfast on Saturday morning in the MOTORoom again this year. This is an excellent opportunity to meet up with old friends and make some new ones before caravanning over to Loon.  It’s also a great time to eat lots of bacon.

This event, like all other events in the MOTORoom at the Attitash Grand Summit, is open to all MOTers, not just those staying at the base hotel.  I hope to see you there.

Thank you, Lyon-Waugh!

MoT 2013 T-Shirt Design

We’ve refined last year’s “back-to-basics” shirt, and we’re using British Racing Green — that most iconic of “British” car colors — again! Thanks once again to Craig at Evergreen Graphics for his help with the design and logistics!

BRG on White

White on BRG

As in past years, t-shirts (and clings!) will be available for purchase with your registration, and we will have limited quantities available at the event. We’ll be offering the usual array of Youth, Women’s and Regular cuts in sizes ranging from Youth Medium to XXXL. Despite repeated requests, we will not be offering anoraks, parkas or high-visibility vests, so please dress accordingly for your expedition to the top of the mountain! ;-)
