MOT2008 MINI Cooper lease raffle
We are thrilled to announce that Herb Chambers MINI of Boston has once again chosen to support our charity fund-raising by donating a two year lease of a MINI for us to raffle - even more exciting, this years car is one of the brand new Clubman models, with extra rear seat leg room and trunk storage space!
The car is a manual transmission MINI Cooper Clubman, in Lightning Blue with Silver roof and C pillars. In addition to the many standard features of the car (air conditioning, power windows, dynamic stability control, on-board computer and six speaker stereo), Herb Chambers MINI has added heated seats and a sunroof, making the car very attractive to own for two years - especially when a raffle ticket costs just $25!

For more information, or to purchase raffle tickets, please contact Herb Chambers MINI of Boston, or send an email to MINIsOnTop
IMPORTANT: All proceeds raised from the sale of raffle tickets will be given to this years chosen charities - the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Hampshire, and the Mount Washington Observatory.
MOT 2008 Charity Press Release
Make-A-Wish Foundation® of New Hampshire and the Mt Washington Observatory to Benefit from Fund Raiser
Two New Hampshire charities chosen to receive moneys raised by MINI Cooper owners attending event at Mt Washington June 28th
Essex, Massachusetts – February 22st – MINIsOnTop announced this year’s beneficiaries of the charitable efforts on behalf of the MINI Cooper owners and families that will take part in the annual event held in the White Mountains of New Hampshire on June 28th. The Mt Washington Observatory will receive 6.288% (honoring the mountain’s elevation) of the total raised with the rest going to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of New Hampshire. MINIsOnTop total charitable efforts in the past have raised over $38,000 and this year’s goal is to break the $50,000 mark.
By raising at least $12,000 it would allow the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of New Hampshire to grant wishes for New Hampshire children with life-threatening medical conditions as well as help to offset the increased costs of basic scientific research the Mt Washington Observatory is known for world-wide. Since the highlight of the MINIsOnTop event is a sunset run to the summit of Mt Washington it was decided that a percentage of the funds raised deserve to go to the observatory on an ongoing annual basis. MINIsOnTop also decided to focus its efforts on the individual Make-A-Wish Foundations within each of the New England states on a rotating basis assuring that a smile can be brought to at least one child each year. Julie Baron, CEO of Make-A-Wish Foundation® of New Hampshire, states that wishes “can be as simple as wanting a play area in your backyard or as expansive as wanting to pet a cheetah in the wild. A wish is the answer to the heartfelt question, if you could have anything, do anything, go anywhere, be anything what would you choose.”
Those interested in donating items to be raffled or used as door prizes please contact Dave Thibodeau.

The MOT2008 shirt design
With many thanks once again to MINI artist Craig, here is this years “modern” Tshirt design - it follows last years popular design showing a representative MINI for every year; this year we shuffled the colors, and added the “bigger-than-the-rest” Clubman:

There’s also a curious coincidence this year … MINIsOnTop ends with a drive up the Mount Washington Auto Road, to a height of 6,288′.
This year, the drive will happen on 6/28/2008, or 6.28.8 if we allow ourselves a little play! So we have commemorated this number game match by adding text to the MINIsOnTop logo on the front of the shirt:

2008 MOT Event Sales Team Update
In a recent MOT organizational meeting it was decided that, rather than seeking a single head of Event Sales, the 2008 MINIsOnTop Event Sales area will be headed by Ian Cull, Theo Matthias, and Michael Smith on a rotating basis. However, they will need three Teams of 3 volunteers each to help them work in a rotation at the Event Sales table. Please consider volunteering for one of the Teams!
The Details
The Event Sales tables will be open on Friday night from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm in the MOTOR room at the Town & Country. On Saturday, the Event Sales tables will be open at the Loon Lot from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and, later that day, at the Mt. Washington Base from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Each Team of volunteers will be made up of three people working together: two table workers and one cashier. The Teams will work one 1:20-hour shift at each site. The Team schedules are as follows: MOTOR Room (Friday)
6:00 – 7:20 Team 1 (help with set up)
7:20 – 8:40 Team 2
8:40 – 10:00 Team 3
Loon (Saturday)
9:00 – 10:20 Team 2
10:20 – 11:40 Team 3
11:40 – 1:00 Team 1
Base (Saturday)
3:00 – 4:20 Team 3
4:20 – 5:40 Team 1
5:40 – 7:00 Team 2
These “shifts” have been designed to allow volunteers an opportunity to enjoy the MOT festivities AND make an important contribution of time to this all-volunteer event. Remember, everything at each MOT was acquired, set-up, maintained, operated and delivered by a all-volunteer group. The more folks we have to help us run the event, the easier it is to achieve continued success (and prevent “OB” — organizer burnout!). Unfortunately, we cannot give you a cut of the sales since all the money raised will go to the 2008 MOT Charity. But if you can spare some time during this year’s MOT, we can certainly use your help!
How to Volunteer for a Team
Please email Theo Matthias at theo.matthias@gmail.com if you can help us as a Team Member. Better yet, make up your own team…get two of your friends to volunteer with you! When you email Theo, make sure you let him know which Team number you would prefer to join.
Thanks in advance,
Ian Cull
