Bar Harbor Invasion timeline
For those on the fence or needing additional information to plan your Bar Harbor Invasion, see below for an overview of the time spent in Bar Harbor prior to MINIs on Top.
The first “official” Bar Harbor event starts at dinner on Weds 6/13. You can arrive any time before or after that, though… it is very laid back. In the past, some Invaders have arrived the weekend prior to Bar Harbor’s Kick-off, opting to check out Maine and do some hiking and shopping.
Thursday 6/14: breakfast with the group and then a free day to explore Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, do some shopping, etc. A few of us opted to go to New Brunswick, Canada for chocolate, beer and Tim Hortons donuts. We’ll regroup later in the evening for dinner together.
Friday 6/15: Breakfast in the morning (blueberry pancakes anyone?) and then a group drive around Acadia National Park with a few scheduled stops to enjoy the beauty of the park. It really is magnificient and having many MINIs touring the park gets a lot of smiles and waves! Another group dinner and it is off to bed early because…
Saturday morning 6/16: A 3:30am wake up call! Cadillac Mountain is the first point in the continental US to see the sunrise, so we pack up our MINIs and head to the top of the mountain for the sunrise (on BHIo6, we actually SAW the sunrise!)
Once the sun is up, we fall in line and head to Loon Mountain, for the kickoff of MINIs on Top! We arrive around 11am and begin the MoT activities which include a group drive around the park, a little free time to explore the area and then back to Mt. Washington for a picnic dinner, raffles and the sunset drive up the mountain (one of the coolest things i have ever done!). MoT is over around 8pm and you are on your own from there.
Also, please note that anyone doing BHI with us will get a full itinerary with maps and agendas upon arrival. We won’t leave you hanging!

Choose the charity
In 2004 MINIsOnTop raised over $1200, split between the American Make-A-Wish charity and the English Whizz Kidz charity.
In 2005 MINIsOnTop raised more than $5000 for the Kennedy-Donovan Center of Massachusetts.
In 2006 we raised over $16,000 for the Massachusetts chapter of Make-A-Wish.
Now for MINIsOnTop 2007, we need your input to choose the charity from the following shortlist:
- Rosie’s Place, a sanctuary for poor and homeless women, offers both emergency and long-term assistance to women who have nowhere else to turn. Established in 1974, Rosie’s Place is committed to welcoming each guest with respect and unconditional love. Rosie’s Place accepts no government funds, and relies instead on committed volunteers and private supporters to accomplish its effective and innovative work.
- Individual New England State state Make-a-Wish Foundations in yearly rotation (Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Foundation’s mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish® experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors and entire communities.)
- Autism Speaks: the goal is to change the future for all who struggle with autism spectrum disorders. They are dedicated to funding global biomedical research into the causes, prevention, treatments, and cure for autism; to raising public awareness about autism and its effects on individuals, families, and society; and to bringing hope to all who deal with the hardships of this disorder. They are committed to raising the funds necessary to support these goals.
- The Mount Washington Observatory is a private, non-profit scientific and educational institution organized under the laws of the state of New Hampshire. Its mission is to advance understanding of the natural systems that create the Earth’s weather and climate, by maintaining its mountaintop weather station, conducting research and educational programs and interpreting the heritage of the Mount Washington region.
